This conference will provide up to date information on variety of the endocrine and diabetes topics in the form of the lecture reviews, interactive workshops, and satellite symposia by pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Mario Skugor served on Board of Directors of Ohio River Valley Chapter of American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and was president during the 2009 and 2010. He was vice chairman of Global Patient Services in Cleveland Clinic from 2008 to 2014 and interim chairman from 2014-2015. In 2019 Dr. Mario Skugor was appointed Education Director for the Endocrine and Metabolic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. It is an honor to have him at the event.
Dr. Marcio Griebeler is a board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology and obesity medicine. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, the Director of the Obesity Programs at the Endocrinology and Metabolism Institute and also the Subspecialty Director for the Weight Management Enterprise Center at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Tina Dusek is an Assistant Professor of Internal medicine at Zagreb University School of Medicine. She works as a consultant endocrinologist at the Department of Endocrinology, University Hospital Center Zagreb. Her primary clinical interests are pituitary and adrenal disorders as well as the late effects of cancer treatment on endocrine system. She serves as the secretary of the Croatian Society for Endocrinology and Diabetology. Join her lecture at the event.
Dr. Laurence Kennedy has been the Medical Director of the Clinic’s Pituitary Center, the Chair of the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Chair of Endocrinology at the University of Florida. Dr Kennedy’s laboratory-based research was in the field of glycation of proteins. Throughout his 45 year career, his interest is focused on diabetes and pituitary disease, with a particular interest in Cushing’s syndrome. It is an honor to have Dr. Kennedy at the event.
Dr. Cecilia Lansang is a Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine/Case Western Reserve University, Director of Endocrinology at Main Campus, director of the Inpatient Diabetes Services in the department of Endocrinology, chair of the main campus Cleveland Clinic Diabetes Care Committee, and chair of the enterprise-wide Cleveland Clinic Health Systems Diabetes Care Committee. Her research and educational endeavors have focused on inpatient and outpatient diabetes. Don't miss an opportunity to hear her lecture.
Dr. Kevin Pantalone is a board certified Staff Endocrinologist at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He currently serves as the Director of Diabetes Initiatives in the Department of Endocrinology. His clinical focus is on the glycemic management of type 2 diabetes, as well as the diagnosis and management of low testosterone in men, thyroid disorders, and pituitary tumors. His research interests are related to the adverse effects of diabetes therapies, particularly those related to sulfonylureas. Don't miss this great opportunity to learn from him.
Dr. Sethu Reddy is Professor and Chair of Discipline of Medicine, Central Michigan University College of Medicine. He is a Vice-President of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. Dr. Reddy’s research interests are primarily devoted to clinical endocrinology, including obesity and thyroid disorders, and the epidemiology of diabetes and its complications. Dr. Elias Siraj is currently Professor and Chief of the Division of Endocrine & Metabolic Disorders and Associate Dean for Clinical Research at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), Norfolk, VA. Dr. Siraj is a leading member of several national and international professional organizations including ADA, AACE, Endocrine Society and IDF. Dr. Siraj’s research focuses on diabetes and cardiovascular disease, diabetic neuropathy, outcomes research, health disparities and collaborative research projects with bio-pharmaceutical companies in the area of clinical diabetes. It is an honor to have him at the event.
Dr. Darko Kastelan is a Professor of Internal Medicine at Zagreb University School of Medicine, Head of the Department of Endocrinology, University Hospital Zagreb, Head of the Croatian Referral Centre for adrenal gland disorders and President of the Croatian Society for Endocrinology and Diabetology. His main clinical interests involve adrenal tumours, especially adrenal carcinomas, Cushing’s syndrome and management of patients with pituitary tumours. Join his lecture at the event.
Dr. Vinni Makin is currently an assistant professor and the endocrinology curriculum director for 2nd year medical students at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western reserve University. Dr. Makin’s areas of interest are obesity, polycystic ovarian syndrome and diabetes. She is currently a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and also serves on the board of the Ohio chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. Dr. Christian Nasr has been on Staff at the Department of Endocrinology of the Cleveland Clinic since 1999. He is board certified in the Sub-specialty of Endocrinology. Dr. Nasr is a Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship Program and Medical Director of the Thyroid Center at the Cleveland Clinic. His clinical and research interests are in thyroid neoplasia. Dr. Katherine B. Heiden is an endocrine surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. She recently re-joined the faculty at the Cleveland Clinic after spending ten years as head of the endocrine surgery section at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Heiden’s clinical and research interests include hyperparathyroidism, structural and functional diseases of the thyroid, adrenal glands and neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas. Dr. Bartolome Burguera is Chairman of Endocrinology and Metabolism Institute (EMI). He joined the Cleveland Clinic as a staff physician and Director of Obesity programs in the Department of Endocrinology Metabolic Institute and the Bariatric Institute, in September of 2013. His clinical and academic interests are focused on the field of obesity, particularly the role of bariatric medicine and non-surgical weight-loss interventions to treat obesity and diabetes.
